Agriculture Photography Arizona
Prior to our relocation to Arizona from Pittsburgh I knew I wanted to switch things up a bit with my work. Since I was young I’ve been interested in Western culture. In some ways I feel as if it were always meant for me to be a Westerner. Coming here I knew there would be cowboy lifestyle, ranching, and a lot of agriculture. Having a strong interest in immersing myself in this lifestyle has led me to photographing this subject.
Each morning I’ve been waking up before dawn and driving out to the patchwork of farmland in South Central Arizona. As I want this new portfolio of images to have a certain look I’m limiting my shooting to roughly a 15 minute window each morning right at sunrise. This gives me outstanding light for these agriculture photographs. Having been a long time landscape photographer I’m utilizing my eye for that genre to incorporate the environment into these images.
Below are a few selects of my recent Southwest agriculture photography. Next week I begin making environmental portraits of farmers and ranchers using my portable studio lighting.
